Lumens Trio 16x20 (SGL-3w)

Cuzco, Peru, 16" x 20"

This brilliant species of butterfly is unique among Lepidoptera. It could be described as at once being virtually colorless yet fiery opalescent. Depending on the angle from which it is viewed, the wings reflect white, lavender, sky blue, or are semi-transparent revealing an ornate network of eyespots and marbling on the underwing.

As this species flies at a higher altitude than most butterflies, perhaps its proximity to the heavens is the secret to its luminescence.

16x20 in a WHITE frame.
